South Tyrol Wine Road

A road dedicated to wine

Past historic houses and villages rich in culture. At the foot of the mountain ranges, with their steep vineyards. A road dedicated to wine.

The South Tyrol Wine Road. At the side of the road, the leaves of the vines shine in different shades of green. Where the vineyards end, the deciduous forest awaits, like a lake of fluffy cotton balls. It arches over the hills and stretches towards the mountain. It merges with the evergreen needles of the heights. The Wine Road is a journey through nature's painting.

The South Tyrolean Wine Road

Wine accompanies the road from its beginning in Nals to its southernmost end in Salurn. The South Tyrolean Wine Road covers more than 4,200 hectares and includes 80% of the vineyards in the province. Established in 1964, it is one of the oldest "Strade del vino" in Italy - and one of the most beautiful. The wooded hills of Mitterberg creep into view. High above, the Leuchtenburg Castle watches over Lake Kaltern, the warmest lake in the Alps. Wineries and wine taverns are scattered along the Wine Road, their architecture striking. Sometimes they press their wine in imposing villas, sometimes in a vine leaf made of steel.

The Tramin Wine Road network

The lanes and paths of Tramin branch off like tributaries from the South Tyrolean Wine Road. They wind their way through the vineyards of this culturally rich region, making it wonderfully accessible. The Wine Road is only a few minutes away from Gartenheim & Überbacherhof and can be explored in both directions on foot, on two wheels or on four wheels. But the Wine Route is not just about wine. In the wine villages, the grape-based beverage can be enjoyed with all the senses - wine taverns, wine shops, cellars and even a wine museum can be found along the Wine Route. Smell, see, taste, drink - live wine.
